Marco Placanica was born far away, far from city centers, 

far from the world he now finds himself immersed in. 

At the age of 15, he held a video camera for the first time. 

After graduating from science high school, Marco discovered Milan — 

its European atmosphere and metropolitan life. Entering the world of advertising, 

Marco began traveling the globe for work — from Indonesia to the United States, 

from the Himalayan mountain range to the Galápagos Islands — 

building his career as a director far from the small town where he was born, 

immersed in the many cultures of the planet.

Marco always seeks to incorporate one or more layers of meaning 

that go beyond mere technical and aesthetic pursuit, establishing 

himself as a director in both the Italian and international markets.
In September 2022, the opportunity to direct the first feature film of 

his career came like a bolt from the blue. Prepared in just a few weeks, 

Marco dove into the adventure titled “La fortuna è in un altro biscotto”, 

his directing debut, released in October 2023 in cinemas across Italy and 

available on Prime Video.

On the horizon is the urge and desire to write his second film —
to challenge himself this time with the writing process as well. 

Marco’s drawer is full of ideas and dreams he’s been chasing since he was a child.

After all, Marco was born and raised far away, in a town called Ferrania — 

a name that, thinking about it now, hardly seems coincidental.
